Don't Hit The Trails Unprepared
About Us:
While stationed at Fort Bragg, NC, we traveled to the Smoky Mountains whenever the opportunity arose to hike and sightsee. After that first trip it easily turned into our favorite place to return time after time.
One thing we noticed on our many trips while on the trails was other hikers without water or other essential provisions. Most of these unprepared hikers were on vacation and were not regular avid hikers. With that hike possibly being a onetime activity, it didn’t make sense to spend the vacation budget on expensive gear. But without some basic essentials, that hike can quickly become a negative experience when it could have been an overwhelmingly positive and enjoyable trip into one of the most beautiful places on earth.
When it was time to retire from the Army, we decided to meet that need of affordable gear in the Smokies gateway city of Gatlinburg, TN by establishing a mom and pop shop called “The Day Hiker”.
